NHL broadcast rights in Canada: national games by night

Rogers' 12-year, C$11 billion deal covers all national NHL rights in Canada, in every language, from 2026-27 through 2037-38, and lets Rogers sublicense games. Rogers has sublicensed Wednesday Night Hockey (and three playoff series) to Prime Video and French national games to TVA Sports. The rest of the English national schedule is on Sportsnet, which says it will show 550+ national games in 2026-27, 35% more than in 2025-26.

Monday Night Hockey if you have cable

• Rogers and Shaw TV customers with Sportsnet in their plan get it at no extra cost. Rogers Xfinity TV plans have it on channels 500, 499 and 498 (208, 209 and 210 for Rogers together with Shaw customers). Standalone TV, Shaw Legacy TV and Shaw Direct customers watch in the Rogers Xfinity Stream app or the Sportsnet+ app, and Rogers Digital TV customers in the Sportsnet+ app. Shaw Direct's no-cost access runs until June 30, 2027.
• Bell, Telus, Cogeco and SaskTel customers with Sportsnet see Saturday Night Hockey on TV, but need Sportsnet+ or the Sportsnet+ TV Provider Add-on, at $12.99/month (as of October 2026, plus tax), for Monday Night Hockey.

Which channel is your team on?

Each Canadian team's English regional games air on its regional broadcaster: TSN for the Leafs (shared with Sportsnet), Canadiens, Senators and Jets, and Sportsnet for the Oilers, Flames and Canucks. Canadiens and Senators regional games in French are on RDS. Their English national games are on Sportsnet, apart from Monday Night Hockey (Sportsnet+ exclusive) and Wednesday Night Hockey (Prime Video only).

Why the Leafs are on both TSN and Sportsnet

Rogers completed its purchase of the remaining 25% of MLSE on Oct 1, 2026 and now owns 100% of the Maple Leafs. Under a 20-year agreement announced Sept 18, 2024, Bell keeps access to Leafs regional games for TSN. In 2026-27, NHL schedule data lists 27 Leafs regional games on TSN4 and only 2 on Sportsnet Ontario; the Leafs' other Sportsnet games are national.

How to watch NHL without cable in Canada

You can follow a Canadian team without cable by combining Sportsnet+, Prime Video and, for four teams, TSN's streaming plans. Regional blackouts still apply when you stream.

Sportsnet+ Standard was previously $29.99/month; the new price applies from the first bill on or after Sept 22, 2026. TSN+ is no longer sold separately: it was folded into TSN Premium in August 2026. TSN doesn't sell a day pass. TSN Premium is sold monthly or annually (TSN also lists a limited-time 3-month offer), TSN Standard monthly only, and the bundles monthly.

Which plans for your team

• Oilers, Flames or Canucks, inside the team's region: Sportsnet+ Standard has the regional games plus Saturday Night Hockey and Monday Night Hockey. Add Prime for Wednesdays (5 Oilers, 4 Flames and 2 Canucks games).
• Maple Leafs, inside the Leafs region: Sportsnet+ Standard, TSN Standard for the 27 TSN4 games, and Prime for 6 Wednesdays.
• Canadiens, Senators or Jets, inside the team's region: TSN Standard for the English regional games, Sportsnet+ Standard for Saturday Night Hockey and Monday Night Hockey, and Prime for Wednesdays.
• Canadiens or Senators in French, inside the team's region: RDS plus TVA Sports Direct, and Prime for Wednesdays. If you want TSN in English too, the TSN Premium + RDS streaming bundle is $30.99/month (as of October 2026, plus tax).

Watching with cable, satellite or IPTV

A TV package with Sportsnet and TSN gets you Saturday Night Hockey, Sportsnet's other national games and your team's regional games on TV inside its region. Wednesday Night Hockey is Prime Video's exclusive national package, and Monday Night Hockey depends on your provider (see Monday Night Hockey if you have cable).

• You can sign in to Sportsnet+ through select TV providers, including Rogers, Shaw, Telus, Bell, Source, SaskTel and Cogeco, to stream the Sportsnet channels in your package.
• Outside Quebec, Bell TV's TSN & Sportsnet pack (TSN1–5, Sportsnet and Sportsnet One, but not Sportsnet 360) is $23/month; its Sports Fan pack, $25/month, also includes Sportsnet 360. Its Sports Franco pack (RDS, RDS2, RDS Info, TVA Sports and TVA Sports 2) is $10/month. Bell's sports-packages page doesn't list these packs for Quebec.
• Rogers' Sports theme pack, where Rogers offers it for your TV service, is $25/month and includes Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, Sportsnet One, Sportsnet 360 and TSN1–5, among others.

How to watch NHL games in French

TVA Sports holds a 12-year French national sublicence from Rogers (announced Sept 3, 2026). It covers up to 350 regular-season games, including 32 Canadiens games (TVA lists 22 Senators games), plus the NHL's tentpole (marquee) events. Prime Video's Wednesday games are also in French.

All 84 Canadiens games in French

Inside the Canadiens' region, French-language fans can follow all 84 games across three services: 45 regional games on RDS, 32 national games on TVA Sports and 7 Wednesdays on Prime Video.

• Playoffs in French: TVA Sports has all Canadiens playoff games, 6 of 8 first-round series, 3 of 4 second-round series, the conference finals and the Stanley Cup Final.
• Where to watch TVA: TVA Sports on TV or TVA Sports Direct. TVA Sports Direct is $24.99/month (as of October 2026, plus tax), and TVA Sports Direct + illico+ is $30/month (as of October 2026, plus tax). TVA Sports Direct is also sold as a Prime Video Channel, a separate subscription billed by Amazon. TVA Sports has a sister feed, TVA Sports 2, and TVA Sports 3 is a temporary playoff overflow channel.
• RDS: Canadiens and Senators regional games in French. RDS streaming is $24.99/month (as of October 2026, plus tax).
• Prime Video: Wednesday Night Hockey is in English and French.
• West of Belleville, Ont.: the Sportsnet+ French out-of-market pass carries Canadiens and Senators French regional games for $59.99 per season, regular season only (as of October 2026, plus tax). It's sold only on sportsnetplus.ca.

Watching your team from outside its region

Rogers' national deal includes out-of-market rights to regional games. The NHL lists two ways to watch them in Canada: NHL Centre Ice on TV, or streaming on Sportsnet+, where out-of-market games are in Sportsnet+ Premium. ESPN+'s out-of-market NHL is a US-only product.

• Sportsnet+ Premium, at $44.99/month (as of October 2026, plus tax), adds out-of-market games and every US-vs-US game to Standard, with “limited blackouts,” and lets you pick the home or away feed. Sportsnet+'s NHL Game Finder also lists TSN's regional Jets, Canadiens, Senators and Maple Leafs broadcasts on Premium (not Standard) for viewers outside each team's region.
• NHL Centre Ice, through a TV provider, for the 2026-27 regular season: Rogers lists $249 per season, lump sum, or $63/month over four months, for up to 40 out-of-market games per week; Telus Optik TV lists $249 per season, one-time payment, or 4 payments of $62.25, for up to 37 a week (for existing Optik TV customers; Telus' offer runs until Jan 5, 2027); and Shaw Direct lists $249 per season, lump sum. Prices in Canadian dollars as of October 2026, plus tax. Bell's sports-packages page showed no Centre Ice price as of October 2026; for Cogeco or any other provider, ask yours.
• In French: the Sportsnet+ French out-of-market pass is for viewers west of Belleville, Ont., covers the regular season only and is sold only on sportsnetplus.ca.

NHL blackouts in Canada: the short version

Outside the team's broadcast region, regional games are blacked out unless you buy an out-of-market product, and that applies to streaming as much as to cable. In TSN's words, “NHL broadcast rules require regional blackouts to be enforced on all streaming devices, just like traditional cable TV.” Sportsnet+ Standard shows Oilers, Canucks, Flames and Leafs regional games only inside each team's region; Premium adds out-of-market games with “limited blackouts.”

Key dates for the 2026-27 season

In the playoffs, Prime Video has two first-round series and one second-round series. Everything else in English is on Sportsnet, and the English Stanley Cup Final is exclusive to Sportsnet. Sportsnet+ Standard includes most of the playoffs and every Cup Final game.
